Additional Info | FAQs
What is buffing?Buffing is a quick & simple process. It is carried out by lightly rubbing a Hemway Buffing Pad over the dry painted surface, this will release thousands of more crystals by knocking the head of paint off. In most cases, this will increase glitter coverage from 1% - 5%.
Can I use any type of emulsion paint?Yes, you can! any standard emulsion: dead flat, matt, soft sheen & silk all work amazingly well, but try to avoid 'one coat', kitchen & bathroom, endurance, durable and acrylic eggshells.
I have used different branded glitter paint additive products without success, what makes yours different? We have tried and tested our glitter paint additives, and compared them with B&Q's branded products; we then asked 20 random people which they thought looked the best. The results we're 19/1 in our favour! Our Glitter Paint Crystal Glitter additives are coated with a PTFE type coating on one side, this coating rejects the paint film, hence why you always get some glitter showing on the surface. In addition, this is why the quick buffing process will release so many more crystals.
Are PTFE type coatings safe to use around children?Indeed they are! They are used in many non-stick coatings for pots and pans eg.Teflon. In addition, they are used for coating some medical equipment because bacteria's find it hard to attach. We have certification to go with our product, stating it is child safe. Cracking colours, Great quality & price, Very Quick delivery, Will use again.
Bit apprehensive buying glitter that didn’t match the paint (it was a Parma violet-like purple) but this combo looks absolutely gorgeous !! I absolutely love how it looks, especially when the light hits it !
Easy to use with a fabulous finish
Speedy delivery and looks amazing on walls
I was hesitant in doing a black wall with glitter. I read reviews and instructions...and it's worked out amazingly. I am so pleased. Here are some tips for future users... The extra chunky is the perfect size for a wall. Prepare the wall properly by filling, sanding and washing with Sugar Soap (which you must rinse off). Use proper dust sheets, you will get glitter on the floor in the final stage. You are recommended to use a silk emulsion and that can show flaws. Paint first coat without the glitter and cut in properly. You will not get a clean edge if you try to cut in with the glitter added. I suggest changing to one-use paint brushes for the glitter coat(s) as although the paint came out of the brush, the brush was still contaminated with glitter despite many washes and had to be binned. I only needed one normal brush glitter coat which applied really well. I chose not to use a roller because of black glitter paint flicking onto the neighbouring white walls. The ratio of glitter to paint gives a generous finish. Once completely dry ie the next day, use the Hemway pad to rub over the wall. Essential stage!....This knocks off any lose glitter. So far no further glitter has fallen off. It's a wall that doesnt have much human contact though. I absolutely recommend this product (so far). Its also been great fun.
Oh my gosh, I love this stuff. I mixed it in with floor paint to give our kitchen a bit of a glamorous do over. Wow. Just wow. Now going to do the bathroom floor the same and do a feature wall in the bedroom. Love love love it. 5 stars all the way! Thank you Hemway.
